Webster Wildlife Area encompasses 8,018 acres mostly surrounding the Solomon River west of the reservoir. A variety of wildlife habitats are developed and maintained to enhance wildlife. The lake is known for its quality walleye, crappie, white bass, and channel catfish. Typical crops in this area are dryland corn, milo, wheat and soybeans. The grass can be baled and used for livestock. Rooks County, KS has a temperate climate with warm summers and mild winters. Average summer temperatures range from the upper 70s to the mid-80s, while winter temperatures can dip as low as the teens. Precipitation is generally moderate throughout the year, with most of it coming between April and July.
