LAZY L RANCH These 35+ acres make up a unique property in a truly unique ranch. Lazy L Ranch is 35 acres of rolling terrain with a beautiful blend of mountain grasses and a healthy and mature pine and fir forest awaiting your dream home and fenced on one side. There are many secluded building sites to choose from, all of which are not only easy to access, but offer incredible views of many 13,000 and 14,000 feet mountains. If you could get bored, you will always have the 190,000 acres of National Forest and tens of thousands of acres of BLM land that borders the ranch on 3 ½ sides available to explore. As a property owner you will have private deeded access to these vast public lands. If you enjoy fishing, Grape Creek is but a few miles to the BLM. Grape Creek is one of the premier fishing streams in this area. Many species of wildlife have chosen to call this home as well and may be your closest neighbors. LOCATION The ranch has a special location in that it is midway between the quaint mountain town of Westcliffe and the conveniences of Canon City. You may feel like you are a million miles from anywhere at all times, but if the bright lights of the city are calling you or you need to catch a commercial flight, Colorado Springs and Pueblo are but a little over an hour’s drive. The ranch boasts an upscale infrastructure. Electronic gates insure your privacy, underground power and phone are in, exceptional ranch roads that are well maintained, agricultural status taxes and so much more. Possibly one of the best perks in that your neighbors won’t be telling you how to live, the ranch has no covenants! HISTORY OF THE RANCH In 1860 Benjamin Griffin and his family came to colorado in search of gold. He settled the family in what was then Garden City (now Canon City). Their story is a colorful one of Indians, bandits and wealthy mine owners. In 1870 his son George moved south along the Popular state coach route, Oak Creek Grade, and homesteaded this ranch, which remained in the family for more than 130 years. The Giffin Family endured many hardships including draughts and long winters, but perservered. Though their attention had changed from gold to ranching, the prospect of finding gold never left their hearts. Traces of diggings are found throughout the ranch. Now you can be one of the privileged few to pick up where the pioneers left off!
