With the idea of doing their own organic farm operation the owners already removed the remaining cropfields from conventional agricultural practices with the last commodity crop being harvested in 2019. So, the farm has been idle from crop production for the 3-year transition period required by USDA for organic certification. For the hunter or nature lover, the farm is frequented by white-tailed deer, wild turkey, small game, and the occasional wood duck along Faulkner Branch. In accordance with the easement and a Forest Stewardship Plan written by a MD DNR Forester, there was a timber harvest in 2020 and as of now the owners have chosen natural regeneration as the method of reforestation.
