Round Pond Village is a special place. It evolved as a small fishing community dependent on the lobster for survival. Fisherman walked the paths across the fields to get to their boats in the morning. Children were sent to the islands to pick blueberries in the summer so that their Mothers could bake pies. Summer folk returned to mix into the community and enjoy the idyllic days around Muscongus Bay. Today Round Pond still feels like a step back in time as it retains the simple living and tight knit community bonds. The harbor buzzes with a mix of lobster boats and sailboats. A few small shops are focal points of activity. The docks offer a delightful spot to sip a drink and enjoy a feed of lobster and clams. 36 Thompson Road is located in the center of this village and snugged along the edge of the water such that the ever changing sights and sounds of the harbor provide a sense of peace and quiet, comforting to the soul. The 1940's cape at the center of the property retains the original ambiance with a few practical improvements including an insulated basement and roof as first steps to year round use.  A fireplace in the lvrm offers a place to gather around the welcome warmth. Additionally, there's a galley kitchen, a dnrm, a screened porch, and 3 rooms on the 2nd floor. This is a ''kick back'' authentic seasonal cottage with a magical energy. The 2nd building is a p & b contemporary Studio/guest house designed by an award winning architect.  It is sturdily built of reclaimed wood and offers a screened porch, a comfortable living room with lovely harbor views and a wood stove, a sm office, a sm galley kitchenette, a full bath with a tiled shower, and a loft/sleeping area on the 2nd floor. A sweep of lawn runs between the two buildings towards the harbor and a walking path leads down onto the rocks and beach where one can sit, swim or launch kayaks. Though there are no official approvals, it appears that there is a good opportunity to put in a deep water dock.
