Dakota Feeding Company (DFC) is one of South Dakota’s largest cattle feeding facilities and located in the heart of some of the best cattle and grain production in the United States. Originally built in 1972, DFC is conveniently located 5 miles east of the city of Onida, South Dakota. Onida is home to Ringneck Energy & Feed, supplying the operation with distillers grain, as well as Oahe & CHS grain elevators, and local grain producers to supply the remaining feed base. Access to multiple sale barns and beef processing plants makes DFC a prime location. Owner states the outdoor capacity is 18,000-20,000 head and is currently permitted at 15,000 head with the State. The 108’x1,000’ confinement barn could be utilized for an additional 1,500-2,000 head of calves, or 10,000 lambs. Currently permitted under owner stated capacity, there is plenty of room for expansion, pending further DANR permitting, to maximize return on investment. The yards are made up of 80+ pens in total: 50 Large outdoor pens measure approximately 200’x250’; 25 smaller outdoor pens measure 100’x250’; 4 east pens of approximately 120'x200' and an additional smaller pen of 80’x120’. Large 12’x44’ 50K# capacity scale, at loading chute. Two artesian wells are located on the property and are approximately 2,100 ft deep.
