A St. Croix Historic Gem and Magical Place also known as the Ruins of Rust-Op Twist is located along the north shore of the island and dates to the late 1700s.  This special property is listed on the US National Registry of Historic Places and was part of a sugar cane estate with outlying structures including the overseer's house, hospital, and factory.   The factory's steam engine mill and sugar mill have been preserved and can be seen today as you walk the property.
