On the European side of Istanbul is the district of Silivri. It is a rule area some 65km away from Istanbul's urban core and has a lovely location on the coast of the great sea of Marmara, where the air is renowned for being clear and fresh. For this reason, in the summer particularly, it becomes a tourist destination. The D100 and E80 highways run through this area.
