After consulting the Pdm of the Municipality of Lamego, it appears that the property may have different uses, namely in terms of tourism, agricultural exploration or simply for family use.
The city of Lamego is well known for its peculiar sausages, namely ham, chorizo-moura and salpicão, for its wine, from rosé, to red wine, from sparkling wine to port wine, for its red-toned cherries. Yellowish, for its fleshy chestnuts... In short, for the particular flavor that its lands give to vegetables.Its main celebration is the Festas de Nossa Senhora dos Remédios, usually between the 24th of August and the 8th of September.
At the top of Santo Estêvão Hill, the sanctuary is currently an integral part of the city´s panorama, to which it is linked by a scenographic staircase, with 686 steps. Since 1984, the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios, including the staircase and park, has been classified as a Property of Public Interest, forming part of the National Heritage.Popular devotion in the place dates back to a chapel, with the invocation of Saint Stephen, built in 1361. In the 16th century, threatening ruin, it was demolished (1568), and the construction of a new temple began, on the initiative of the bishop of Lamego . An image of the Virgin and Child was deposited in the new hermitage. Over time, devotion to Saint Stephen diminished, being replaced by devotion to the Virgin. The devotion of those who turned to her in search of relief from illnesses gave rise, in turn, to devotion to Our Lady of Remedies.The current sanctuary was begun in 1750 and completed only in 1905.
This ancient city has around 24,000 inhabitants (2021 census), with its main activities centered on services, commerce and agriculture. The latter represents an important source of wealth, coming mainly from the wine sector, since the municipality, like the other municipalities in the region, is integrated into the Douro Demarcated Region. In this city we find the secular one - Caves da Raposeira.
The monumental and religious tourism sectors have been growing gradually, and it is in them that some potential is identified, with the municipality´s vocation being recognized. The dynamics recorded are sufficient, although there may be improvements in this sector. This situation was reinforced with the completion of the A24, with this infrastructure being considered a determining factor in the attraction and demand for this region.
