Meadela, former Portuguese parish, integrated in the Union of Parishes of Santa Maria Maior and Monserrate and Meadela, is a significant part of the new urban fabric of the municipality of Viana do Castelo. With the demographic, economic and social growth of Viana, Meadela came to benefit a lot, having been progressively losing its rural characteristics.
