The fame of the orchards and fruits of this area reached the whole kingdom. Moreover, the agricultural activity of the monks was so important that the current and famous agricultural practices of the region are still subsidiaries of it, and agriculture continues to be the dominant activity throughout the municipality. The monks were also foresters, having preserved the forests for centuries. In the eighteenth century, the largest plot of hardwood forest in the region was located precisely around the Quinta.With the extinction of the Religious Orders, the activity of the monks in the parish ended, and their goods and properties were appropriated by the National Treasury and later sold.
