C., being, for a long period, port frequented by Phoenicians, Greeks and Carthaginians.<br /><br />Numerous traces speak of the past of Lagos, but the time from which the county becomes, in historical terms, effectively known is from 228 to .C., when the treaty between Carthaginians and Romans was celebrated, which fixed the Ebro as a border between them. Henrique lived in Lagos, in the castle, then Palácio dos Governadores, and which was also destroyed by the earthquake of 1755.
