Its population density is 40.1 inhabitants/km. The parish of Carrio is located in the central coastal area, north of the district of Leiria, municipality of Pombal. It is the third largest parish in the municipality, 60% of which is occupied by forest, with emphasis on the Mata Nacional do Urso, which is located in the same area as the old Leiria pine forest, ordered to be planted by D. Dinis. This area is made up mainly of maritime pine, but also of other plants and shrubs, such as carex arenae, known as clump of carrios, which ended up giving the name to the parish.
