Parish - Biscainho - of recent creation, its institution dates back to December 31, 1984. Its population of 1021 inhabitants is mainly dedicated to agriculture and forestry. Cattle and horse breeding and beekeeping are also relevant. It is a land of great traditions in the arts of horseback riding and bullfighting, and from here came a prominent figure of Portuguese bullfighting, David Ribeiro Telles, and his sons, João and António Palha Ribeiro Telles, raised at Herdade da Torrinha.
 
In the sixteenth century, the Book of the Tombo da Misericórdia de Coruche already mentions the "Casal de Biscainho" and, in the following two centuries, in the Book of Lace and in the Transfer of the Book of the Tomb of the Confrarias, the "Herdade do Biscainho" is mentioned. Its charters date back to the late nineteenth century and in some parts of the current parish, a few decades ago, the northern Beira predominated. The origin of the toponym has been explained through two versions: one, popular, speaks of biscainha bees, the other, according to the dictionaries of the Portuguese language, tells us that a Spaniard from Biscay was once settled here, that is, a Biscainho.
