Although it is located in Sintra, the National Palace and Gardens of Queluz is extremely close to Amadora, just a ten minute drive away. This 18th century baroque palace was inhabited by the Portuguese monarchy until a French invasion forced them to flee to Brazil in 1807.

Amadora hosts an annual International Comic Strip Festival in the autumn. Launched in the 1990s, the festival features comics, caricatures and cartoons and has become a very prestigious annual event.

For those who love outdoor spaces, the Monsanto Forest Park is just a ten minute drive away. This green space is the largest in Lisbon, covering over a thousand hectares, and is simply ideal for nature walks, hikes and picnics.
