ALCOBAÇA was considered, by the Portuguese Association for Consumer Protection (Deco), as one of the Portuguese cities with the highest quality of life, classification based on parameters such as the balanced cost of housing, compared to other national district capitals, the cost of living, the good conditions of the labor market or waste management.
The city of Alcobaça has, in its urban perimeter, a population of approximately 18,000 inhabitants, although in the municipality, according to the Census carried out in 2011, there are about 55,000 people.
