Charming Historic Palace in Sizzano In the heart of Sizzano, a charming town famous for its fine wine, we offer for sale an entire historic building. The building, characterized by neoclassical lines, dates back to the early nineteenth century in its current form, but originally part of the structure was already present in Sizzano hundreds of years earlier. Inside the L-shaped structure you can admire a lovely Italian garden, which opens behind the building, full of camellias and rhododendrons and adorned with stone statues and fountains. The living part of the building of about 1350 square meters is spread over three floors above ground and overlooks about 1900 square meters of park. A rustic cobblestone courtyard leads to a large hall of 140 square meters, characterized by a monumental wooden screw press and other small rooms ideal for hosting receptions and events, immersed in an incomparable historical setting. The beautiful halls on the main floor, partly frescoed and communicating, are suitable for more sumptuous events. The vast park and the romantic portico framed by centuries-old wisteria offer a perfect location for setting up an elegant open-air reception during the summer. Its cellars have been for centuries a fundamental place of production of the wine of these famous hills, namely Sizzano. This property could today be a wonderful location for weddings, banquets, meetings and gala evenings. Sizzano is a very ancient town. In old documents it is mentioned with various names: Sitianum, Siccianum (Azario), Sicianium, Sectianum (Bescapé, Cerutti). Sizzano was already a very notable town in Roman times and, even more so, after the introduction of Christianity, when it was defined as conspicuous (Rolandi). In particular, the oldest find documenting the existence of Sizzano is a tombstone, found in 1667 during the construction works of the parish church and then walled inside the facade. On one side it bears a Roman inscription which recalls that a certain Tito Tullio Maggiore had taken steps to restore an already existing bath (spa?) On the other side of the same tombstone, in a later period, when the Christian religion had already spread in the area, an inscription was carved to indicate the burial place of a noble little girl who lived only one year, ten months and twenty-three days. During the High Middle Ages, S. Adalgisio of Novara, who was the 32nd bishop of Novara, assigned the tithe of Sizzano (Bescapè) to the Cathedral Church of Novara in 840. It is worth remembering that this tithe, paid with a supply of wine to the Curia, has survived to this day having been abolished only in 1974 by decree of Bishop Aldo Del Monte and through the efforts of the then mayor Cav. Severino Pizzetti.
