Today's proposal is unconventional, suitable for those who want to retire to live in a rural context, away from the noise of the cities and the traditional tourist routes.
We are on the Ibleo plateau, in the municipality of Rosolini, a large agricultural center south of Syracuse, of Arab derivation, a period in which the latter conquered Sicily and found the Byzantine Empire in complete disintegration and it was not difficult for them to settle peacefully in the area bringing the benefits of their culture. 
This city is surrounded by countryside, mainly used for the cultivation of almond, citrus, olive and carob trees. 
And it is right among the rolling hills that surround Rosolini but only 15 minutes from Modica and 20 from Noto, the splendid capitals of Sicilian Baroque, that we will visit a splendid estate, finely restored.
Around us there are the stone walls that delimit the different crops until we reach the gate from which we have access to the main courtyard of the house in which the ancient pavement has remained in memory of the passage of carts and feet that moved from here without stopping.
The square is closed on 4 sides by walls or practical buildings, from the manor house, to the garages to the warehouses and boasts in the center a well that is fundamental for life not only in the past. 
In this first space you could think of a farm of farmyard animals or dog breeds given the presence of independent rooms that allow stalling.

On the ground floor there is a large eat-in kitchen made of masonry with typical tiles reminiscent of the Sicilian sun and sea. From here you can go to the back garden to stay in the shade of the trees on the hottest days, now it's the favorite place of the many cats that roam undisturbed or doze off looking at me carelessly.
This first garden would be suitable for creating a barbecue area, since it is attached to the kitchen or, with sliding windows, a winter garden in which to stay when the weather is not clement.
Attached to the kitchen is the first of the two double bedrooms of the house, with a large French window towards the courtyard and a window towards the garden, as well as the bathroom on the ground floor, with a window and shower currently used as a laundry room.
Imagine yourself waking up here, you can go out directly into the garden, water the flowers while you wait to drink your coffee and read the newspaper in an old iron table found on a trip by a second-hand dealer.
The living area reminds me a lot of those you see in the mountains, spread over two different floors, with a stone relaxation area with fireplace and wooden ceiling and a mezzanine that can be reached by an elegant wooden and wrought iron staircase.
The loft is now used as a study, and thanks to the addition of a sofa bed, it can become a guest room or a hobby room or all three together.
From here, passing through a hallway suitable as a dressing room and walk-in closet, we move on to the master bedroom with en suite bathroom with window and shower.
As you may have understood, this house is very versatile, it can accommodate from the couple who want to be alone, to the family with children.
The land owned, we are talking about over 4 hectares, can become a source of income transformed into an orchard or land for the breeding of sheep and other animal species.
