Via Di Ravecca: in the heart of the medieval city, in one of the oldest streets of Genoa we sell a charming apartment completely renovated and furnished.

Historical notes: Ravecca was one of the districts that, together with that of Sarzano, constituted the "companion" of Castello, the oldest nucleus of the city.

It is a particularly popular part of the Genoese caruggi, included in the defensive walls built in 850 to defend against the raids of Saracen pirates, which included the areas of Borgo Saccherio (Broglio), Porta Soprana (Sant'Andrea), Canneto, Banchi and the hill of Maccagnana also including the basilica of S. Lorenzo, at the time not yet a cathedral.

In the thirteenth century, the Embriaci and Fieschi families had houses and properties here. In the late Middle Ages it was still inhabited by relatively well-off classes, then, starting from the fifteenth century, emigration from the countryside was concentrated in this part of the city where the building density had progressively thickened, with a consequent increase in the working classes.
The route of Via Ravecca divides this popular urban fabric into various sub-zones, with buildings that often date back to the late Middle Ages (14th and 15th centuries). Along the way, modern buildings built after the destruction of the war alternate with medieval houses. In the facades of the oldest buildings there are some of the traditional votive shrines present throughout the center.
