Although the village is atop of a hill, the nearest beach is just 2 km away. By car, you can reach the stunning beaches of Apokoronas in less than 10 minutes. The distance to Chania city is 20km, to the port of Souda also 20km, and to the airport 30km. You can reach all of the above in 20-30 minutes time.

The entire region still has a well-preserved rustic atmosphere with traditional architecture within the surroundings of extreme beauty, full of enormous cypresses and oaks. It has been a popular place of residence and a prosperous community since the 18th century, and it has maintained its character more than any other community in the area. Couple that with the Mediterranean weather conditions and you realise why numerous foreigners have chosen to live permanently here in the last decade.
