Below, a promenade lined with tavernas and cafes hems in the fishing harbour.<br />It’s a slow-paced, friendly place where agriculture is the mainstay of the local economy.<br />A long, sandy beach skirts a wide bay to the east of town.<br /><br />Sitia has a small airport with daily flights to and from Athens and a few charter flights from Europe during the summer. The international airport of Heraklion is 2 hours by car.<br />The port has ferry connections to Piraeus and other islands of the Cyclades and Dodecanese.
