The small and poor houses of the ships' crews are the oldest and simplest form of house in Santorini. Traditional Santorini caves usually consisted of two rooms, with the front one including the hall and kitchen and the back room, the bedroom, which was separated from the rest of the house by a brick wall.They add a unique beauty to the famous Cycladic island, making it unique in the world.Sometimes they were carved entirely into the rock, sometimes they had additional built sections. Theraic earth has insulating properties, so Santorini cave houses are kept warm in winter and cool in summer. They also show great resistance to earthquakes.Our traditional cave house is located in the heart of Finikia next to Oia where we go walking through the traditional cobbled streets of the island.Our house consists of three rooms-caves that open onto a courtyard with a Mediterranean garden that leads to an elevated terrace that offers stunning views of the village and the sea.The cave on the right has an area of about 30sqm and offers two double beds 160X200cm and a sofa bed 90X200, cm kitchen and bathroom.The cave in the center about 50sqm has a double bed 160 X 200cm and two sofa beds 90 X 200cm, kitchen and bathroomThe 3rd cave, on the left, of 20 sqm offers a double bed 160 X 200cm, kitchen and bathroom.The house offers 2 more separate spaces: a large storage room and a laundry room with bathroom and toilets.If these 2 are joined, a fourth appartment can be created.In its current layout, the house can accommodate a total of 11 people.It is the ideal place for rest, peace and daydreaming in the idyllic setting of the Cyclades which are sublimated in Santorini where architectural tradition, mineral beauty and the endless horizon of the blue sea are combined.
