Gouves are located 18km east of Heraklion city and 15km of Heraklion International Airport. Gouves is a large area, including the popular resort of Kato Gouves and the traditional village of Ano Gouves , built next to the low Ederis mountain at a height of just over 300 meters, offering a magnificent view. Gouves is neither a village nor a town exactly. Gouves is a residential area that actually developed due to tourism. There is a main road that starts from the old National Highway of Heraklion  Hersonissos and goes down to the coastal road. To the left and right of this road there are hotels and apartments in a large area between fields. Hotels and apartments also exist above the old highway, but there you can find much less. In other words, it is a sparsely populated area that largely retains its former rural character.
