La Fenice in Ermoupoli

Located at the heart of the splendid neoclassical town of Ermoupolis, La Fenice is a unique building with historical value that transcends its residents in a remarkable journey through time and aristocracy, while imbuing privacy and secluded tranquility. 

Despite the deterioration of its interior space, the outer shell remains in excellent condition, making La Fenice unique for a sophisticated restoration that will preserve its historic 1890s neoclassical architectural splendor.

A restoration proposal is in progress and includes: a total redesign of the interior space (which has already received approval from the Ministry of Culture), and a structural study (with all necessary assessments) that has been submitted to the local buildings department and awaits approval. 

The proposal encompasses all floors and offers two alternative design options that infuse an efficient flow of the interior spaces, while inviting the resident to relax and be inspired by the feeling of belonging that permeates the place. This meticulous restoration and adaptive re-use approach indicates a dedication to preserving the historical and cultural significance of the building while ensuring that its structural integrity and aesthetic value will be maintained. 

It's encouraging to see efforts to revitalize and restore neoclassical gems, such as La Fenice, that enrich the architectural history of Ermoupolis. Preserving such historical buildings is crucial for maintaining the cultural heritage and unique identity of the island.
