Location

 	There is direct access from the airports located at Sitia (55 km, mostly local flights) and Heraklion (105 km, flights from all major European cities) on an improving road network that spreads across Crete.  	Ierapetra (less than 15km) is the most populous town in the regional unit of Lasithi and the fourth most populous town in Crete. Ierapetra is nicknamed "the bride of the "Lybian Sea" because of its position as the only town on Crete's southern coast.
