In Périgueux, in the residential district of the Prefecture, a 19th century bourgeois house, its pleasure garden, its swimming pool and its garages. Built along the street, the house is topped with a slate roof. It is distinguished by an eclectic architecture with multiple inspirations. The façade on the street side rises with a certain freedom in terms of classical style ornaments, such as the bosses that form trompe-l'oeil quoins, as if the house had a central projection. This is enhanced by the mouldings that adorn the corbelled balcony supported by ornate corbels, the dentil cornice, and the arched pediment of the dormer. The façade is also distinguished by Renaissance style elements such as chamfers and mullions. On the garden side, the master builder gave free rein to his imagination by adding a gallery and Jacobean dormers adorned with wood as well as a hexagonal corner turret topped by a weathervane. All the facades are made of dressed stone and are pierced by numerous windows of different sizes. The imposing house and its adjoining outbuilding hide a secret garden out of sight in which a large swimming pool is located.
