A modernist work at the gates of the Camargue Built in the 1970s near Nmes, 35 km from the beaches and lakes of the Camargue, this work signed by the architect Armand Pellier is nestled in the heart of a park of almost a hectare. On a plot of 9, 880 sqm, the house covers an area of 260 sqm on one level. The entrance hall with cloakroom, lit by a skylight, serves the day area on one side and the sleeping area on the other. It now hosts a welcoming table, thanks to its beautiful dimensions. The 80 sqm living room opens onto the garden thanks to a glass wall running along its entire length. It hosts a living room with a monumental Gard stone fireplace. The original plan also placed the dining room there. The kitchen (renovated in 2009), with dining area, is extended by a large terrace protected from the sun's rays by an awning. The sleeping area, served by a hallway with storage, accommodates four bedrooms and three bathrooms in perfect original condition. Each bedroom opens onto the garden. An air-conditioned wine cellar, a laundry room, a technical room and a double carport complete the package. The villa benefits from a 105 meter swimming pool, slightly offset to the west at the level of the bedrooms. The stone terraces are flush with the lawn which benefits from automatic watering fed by a borehole. Outdoor lighting highlights the flower beds in the evening. The villa enjoys an ideal location about ten kilometers from Nmes. The Golf Nmes Campagne and the airport of Nmes Garon are in the immediate vicinity. The villa develops a building all in length, with a modernist aesthetic, with flexible lines and an asserted horizontality. Its glass wall, sheltered by a concrete cap, opens the living spaces onto the garden without interruption of the supporting pillar. The concrete structure of the house is covered with Pont du Gard stone, a material characteristic of the architect's creations. Armand Pellier's architectural approach draws on his artistic practice. This former sculptor works the inhabited volumes and their inscription in space and the landscape by relying on a regulating line as a support for the composition. He takes into account the topographical and climatic data of each site and designs buildings anchored in their environment, reminiscent of the late approach of the American architect Frank Lloyd Wright as well as the Californian creations of Rudolph Schindler and Richard Neutra.
