A belle poque dwelling with an enclosed garden, 30 kilometres north of Paris, beside Carnelle forest. The dwelling was built in 1905. It has a ground floor, a first floor and a second floor in the roof space. It is crowned with a steeply sloped slate roof punctuated with dormers. Its elevations are made of local ashlar limestone. Redbrick stringcourses run across them. Other decorative features evoke the elegance of upper-middle-class architecture from the belle poque period. The tall windows have wrought-iron guardrails. On either side of the roof, a red-brick chimney stack rises up, adding balance to the vertical shape of the house, which stands out for its symmetry and high-quality materials. Facing the street, the main entrance door stands beneath a wrought-iron canopy. It leads out into a small garden with trees, enclosed with walls and wrought-iron fencing. At the back, a paved court takes you to a cosier outdoor nook, which is ideal for meals and relaxation in absolute privacy.
