Vilopriu is a municipality in the Baix Empordà region, located on the border between Alt Empordà and Gironés. It includes the villages of Gaüses, Pins and Valldavià. The distances between the four villages of Vilopriu are very short and can easily be covered on foot or by bicycle along the paths that connect them to enjoy the medieval heritage of the municipality. 

In the midst of the silence and calm characteristic of the region, we find the remains of its castle and the church surrounded by houses built in the 18th century.

Agriculture and livestock farming are the basis of the municipality's economy. Forage, cereal and corn crops predominate, as well as pig, sheep and poultry farms. Many of the farmhouses have been renovated as second homes and rural accommodation.

The archaeological site of the neighbouring town of Empúries is only fifteen kilometres away, and the nearest beaches on the Costa Brava are those of L'Escala and Sant Pere Pescador.
