A bit of history The Chteau forms an imposing architectural group that dominates the village of Chardonne. According to the archival documents available, the initial building (fortified house) was built in 1527. An extension was made in 1624 with the south stair turret; new restorations followed in 1910, in particular with the reconstruction of the west tower (keep) by the architect H. Collombet. It was also at this time that a painter's studio was set up on the 4th floor of the keep. Transformations in this space continued in 1965, with the installation of woodwork and wall benches, the repair of the fireplace and the installation of hexagonal terracotta tiles on the floor. It was not until 1974 that the 5th floor of the west tower was created by architect R. Bashler, thus composing the current duplex.
