This 37 acre island features an abundance of trees, stunning white sandy beaches and is surrounded by coral beds and small reef systems. There is world class fishing at and near to Frenchman's Caye. With flats, reefs, lagoons, estuaries and five river mouths in close proximity, one can pursue permit, tarpon, snook, barracuda, and various snappers among other species. With a bit of effort one can also go after Bluewater gamefish. There are remains of Maya coral architecture hidden among the trees on this special place. This island is part of the establishment of the marine Maya merchant dynasty. The historical account of Frenchman’s Caye is that over a millennium ago, Maya merchants set up a dynasty from this location.
