Welcome to 44 Wharf Street, Maclean (The old Anglican Vicarage) and let us start from the beginning with a short history lesson.….

The foundation masonry stone of the Maclean Rectory (Vicarage) situated at 44 Wharf St Maclean was laid on 26/02/1916 by Mrs. Druitt, wife of Rt Rev CH Druitt, the first Bishop of Grafton 1914-1921. Rev AR Martin was the Vicar at the time.

Bishop Druitt was quoted to have said to the large gathering "Today is a very happy occasion for you, your Vicar and his wife and myself as your Bishop".
Mrs. Druitt was presented with a gold trowel with the inscription "laying the foundation stone LC Vicarage 26/02/1916."

The structure was well underway and it was hoped it would be finished by Easter at the cost of 800 pounds.

The Vicarage was sold in 2004 ending the ownership by the Anglican Church. The reason for this being the Diocese considered it run down and no longer fit for purpose.

The Vicarage was rented out until 2015 with minimal to no maintenance for 11 years and fell into a worse state of disrepair. Current owners purchased the property in 2015.

And today 2025....

The new owners have just completed major works since 2016 and have restored the buildings character, historic value, and its dominant position in Wharf St Maclean. 

Original floors, fireplaces, four generous sized bedrooms, three bathrooms and a chef's kitchen with amazing sunset views are just the tip of the iceberg of features in this historical home.
