One of eastern Australia’s leading family-owned beef operations is offering part of their New England, NSW cattle property portfolio for sale as a turnkey opportunity with Colliers Agribusiness as joint exclusive agents with Meares & Associates.

‘McPhee Beef Farms’ represents an expansive, premium opportunity in a tightly held area, currently operating with high-quality F1 Wagyu cattle. The property features 90% developed country, extensive infrastructure, 200km of new fencing, 20km of laneways, and substantial soil improvements with a significant PPS history.

Recognised as one of eastern Australia’s leading beef operations, McPhee Beef Farms, currently trading under the Maria River Cattle Company brand, the holding stands as one of the most significant, highly improved, and well-developed breeding, backgrounding, and fattening assets. 

Spanning 8,393.92 hectares (20,741 acres) of highly sought-after high rainfall, principally rich basalt and loam soils, and is situated atop the Great Dividing Range. The holding operates across, Yarrowitch; Benditi, Mooraback, Overflow & Clonmel operating across 6,755 ha – 16,690 acres through to nearby Walcha holding, Glen Eagle, 1,638 ha – 4,050 acres.  

This premium breeding and fattening operation has been acquired by the McPhee group over the past 30 years, with assets being strategically selected for features including; high altitude (averaging approximately 1,000m* ASL), temperate climate with minimal frost, predominantly rich basalt and soft loam soils, extensive plateau-type terrain, abundant natural spring water reserves, and reliable above-average annual rainfall of 950mm. These attributes render it ideal for contemporary development with high-performance improved pastures.

Approximately 75% or 6,285 ha (15,530 acres) of the land has been sown to a high-performance pasture mix, incorporating the latest varieties of fescue, prairie grass, cocksfoot, and legumes, predominantly over the past five years. An additional 600 hectares on the recently acquired and adjoining Clonmel will be sown to pasture in early 2026, resulting in over 80% of the 8,373 ha being established to pasture.

A comprehensive top-dressing program involving annual applications of 100 kg to 125 kg of single super, liming where necessary, and the use of fertiliser during the establishment of new pasture. 

As at complete, the operation has the capability to carry approximately 108,000 DSEs or 15,000 steers. Today the Farms are the home of some of the elite Maria River Angus breeding herd producing quality high performance F1 Wagyu progeny for one of Australia’s leading and well regarded  integrated beef operators,  who have for the last 5 years taken 100% of all F1 progeny from these properties to supplement their 100% aligned program for their high-end, butcher, food services domestic and established export beef markets.
